Public Sector Energy Strategy

WattsWorth has been advising municipalities since 2003. Their professional advice has enabled their clients to consistently keep power costs to an absolute minimum, year over year.

WattsWorth is supports a diverse group of public sector participants throughout Ontario, helping them manage their electricity usage and costs effectively. Clients experience considerable financial benefits through cost savings and efficiency improvements over time.

Natural Gas purchasing is also a key part of WattsWorth’s strategies, for an increasing number of Public Sector clients.  Most suppliers in Ontario are unrated subsidiaries of larger companies, therefore, all necessary steps are taken to protect clients from the risk of a low credit rated supplier.

WattsWorth’s clients’ success stems from the fact that, in not selling commodities, procurement advice on electricity and gas is unbiased. They are positioned to act immediately, enabling the Public Sector to start saving – today.

Beyond procurement, WattsWorth provides advice on energy strategy, budgeting, rate selection, greenhouse gas reporting, and market outlook to help the Public Sector meet their energy goals.

WattsWorth recently assisted a municipality in uncovering and rectifying significant billing errors that were leading to unexpectedly high energy costs for their large facilities. After a thorough analysis of the municipality’s energy bills, WattsWorth identified that the Local Distribution Company (LDC) had incorrectly charged the municipality under the Regulated Price Plan (RPP) instead of the Spot Market rates, which were more appropriate for their energy usage.

Thanks to WattsWorth's diligent work, the municipality was able to correct this mistake and secure a reimbursement of nearly $200,000 from the LDC. This case highlights WattsWorth's commitment to providing expert, impartial energy consulting services that help municipalities effectively manage their energy procurement and reduce costs.
